“Nature” – etching and intaglio

Canada

“Nature has always been a constant reference in my life and work. Since an early age I have had permanent contact with her, its silent and exuberant presence and natural colors. My identity is related and intrinsically united with nature.

Nature is the recurring theme in my art as well. I approach nature through a momentary appreciation. This appreciation is simple and direct, and essentially emphasizes nature's magnificent presence.

Thus contemplating nature, I discover its fragility and vulnerability, and daily injustice inflicted upon it by the humankind. I realize that one of the greatest losses of the modern man is his disassociation from nature and tragic inability to get reconnected once again.

I see engraving as a means of reference to nature's own way of expression, alluding to lines and signs, always leaving a mark.

The purpose of my work is to remind of our true and intimate relationship with nature whose part and parcel we are. Its preservation should be our commitment forever.
